Following the events in the Cuchumantanes Mountains, the Approxima used by Doctor Helen Stoppard was unable to undergo a merge. With the damage to its synthetic nervous systems, it also became impossible to extract the personality-construct from the Android, effectively rendering the Approxima, as defacto individual with an unusual legal status as its personality was a replica of a living person.
